AWSI Industry Demo Event Recap - Retailers score 3 perfect days of paddling, kiteboarding, and windsurfing.

Flatwater, wind, swell conditions delivered for all tastes!

The three days allotted for the 2009 AWSI Demo produced perfect conditions for each sport represented at the event... kiteboarding, windsurfing and SUP. Fifty-seven retailers from North and South America attended the event, where over 53 brands were represented.

From wetsuits and harnesses to the ultimate light wind kites and snorkeling-window SUP boards, the demo event covered a wide range of goods to demo. Retailers who brought staff and attacked the event with a plan aimed to get the most out the demo by getting as many staff on as much gear as possible. Enough gear was rigged for all with manufacturer staff launching, landing, and making for easy transitions in and out of the water.

Day one brought warm, moderate winds to put up everything from a trainer kite to a race board. The day was kicked off with morning presentations by HQ Power Kites, Underground Boards, and North Kiteboarding, North Sails, and Amundson SUP.

After noon, everything moved to the beach to take advantage of the great wind. Manufacturers had more than 100 kites and 50 sails rigged for shop owners and staff to take quick and full advantage of trying it all. Conditions were gusty, making it ideal for testing the windrange and stability of all the new gear.

Day two flattened out bringing warm temperatures and glassy conditions for some great SUP'ing and industry networking. Party-goers from the night before managed to make morning presentations with full coffee in hand by 9am! Presentations by Naish Kites, Windsurfing, and SUP, Mystic, Hyperflex, Liquid Force and Sailworks made for a full morning at the Hood River Inn.

Retailers packed in the rest of the windy day with more demos to bring home some great first feedback to customers on 2010 gear.
